How will the Intercontinental Title contenders be selected to compete in the Chamber?

The WWE Universe was left in a state of shock Monday night when Daniel Bryan relinquished the Intercontinental Championship on Raw. On the heels of that major shift in the landscape, WWE.com reported that the now-vacant title will be up for grabs inside the Elimination Chamber at a special pay-per-view of the same name on May 31, airing exclusively on WWE Network. But how exactly will contenders for the title be selected?
Perhaps it will simply be a question of picking names from a list of top contenders. With the high level of competition currently on the roster, there are more than enough Superstars to fill the highly-coveted pods. In fact, anyone that competed in the Ladder Match at WrestleMania 31 – where Bryan won the Intercontinental Title in the first place – are still worthy choices. We imagine King Barrett, fresh off his victory in the King of the Ring Tournament, is ready to get his title back. How about Sheamus? Goldust?
It is also possible that The Authority will decide to give special consideration to certain Superstars over others? It's no secret that COO Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have never considered WWE’s “Yes!” Man to be their ideal champion. Might they take action to assure that someone of their choosing capture the illustrious gold? Could we set a Chamber Match with Kane, Big Show, J&J Security and, yes, even The Game himself competing?
Or will the field be busted completely open, leaving it up to the Superstars themselves to prove their worth? Will someone be given the chance to step up and take their place in the Chamber in some sort of qualifying tournament or a Beat the Clock Challenge? Maybe a Battle Royal for that last covenant pod? Certainly hungry up-and-comers like Neville will jump at the chance to prove their mettle.
It is entirely possibly that this Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view will play into the consideration somehow. Perhaps a Superstar who knows that he is not in the running for the Chamber Match will step up and make the powers-than-be take notice of him.
Whatever happens between now and the contest inside the career-changing structure, one thing is for certain: It will be explosive. Don’t miss the special Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m.  PT, exclusively on WWE Network.
