The 2015 edition of SummerSlam featured some of the wildest and most unpredictable finishes in recent wrestling history, and several WWE Superstars who came out on the losing end Sunday will shine at Night of Champions.
Here are the wrestlers who will bounce back at Night of Champions.
John Cena
It was hard to imagine Cena taking a loss to Rollins at SummerSlam, but thanks to Jon Stewart, it happened in the most convoluted way possible. Having Cena lose two PPVs in a row may be asking too much.
There is a good chance Rollins will be forced to defend both the WWE World Heavyweight and United States championships at Night of Champions, and with the way he has been booked during his reign, Cena getting his title back right away is not that far-fetched.
During Cena’s run with the U.S. title, he helped bring prestige back to a championship that meant almost nothing. Having Cena with the title back would keep him out of the world title scene and would allow him to move away from Rollins altogether.
With a much bigger storyline brewing between Rollins and Sting for the world title, it would be smart for WWE to give the United States Championship back to Cena and allow Rollins to focus on putting on the best possible matches and promos against Sting.
Cesaro
One of the toughest losses on the SummerSlam card was Cesaro taking the clean pinfall against Owens. Whether Cesaro squares off against Owens again or has a different challenger, he must earn a win and build momentum.
Few athletes are as talented as Cesaro, and he is getting over with the fans organically. Instead of WWE officials ignoring the reaction from the crowd, they must push him toward the upper midcard, and winning at Night of Champions would be step one.
Whether it’s a one-off feud against a heel such as Sheamus or a possible inclusion in the storyline with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, Cesaro needs something important to do heading into September, and he needs to win.
Team B.A.D.
The focus of the Divas revolution has fallen heavily on the shoulders of Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Paige, but Team B.A.D. deserves a serious push as well—more specifically, Sasha Banks.
In one of the worst booking decisions of SummerSlam, Team B.A.D. was the first eliminated, taking two of the top stars in the division—Banks and Naomi—and not giving them a well-deserved chance to shine.
Regardless of what type of match they end up participating in at Night of Champions, the hope from the WWE Universe is that both Sasha and Naomi earn victories next month at the PPV. A tag team match against two members of Team Bella would be a smart addition to NoC.
