Fashion Design House Kate Spade Partners to Create a New Fall Lineup of Purses and Backpacks that Could Recharge iPhones

Kate Spade New York is an American fashion design house founded as Kate Spade Handbags in January 1993, by Kate Spade. Today we're learning that Kate Spade & Co. believes customers will want purses that double as a power supply and has created a new collection of designer bags that include technology from the seed-funded startup Everpurse to enable this functionality for iPhones.

Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Mary Beech said Kate Spade & Co. is 'committed to digital innovation,' and designing for 'customers who live a life on-the-go,' reports Lora Kolodny of the Wall Street Journal.

Beech further stated that everyone could relate to running down a mobile phone's battery and feeling stranded, begging co-workers to borrow a charger, or jostling for access to a wall outlet at a cafe or airport. The new collection is meant to alleviate such modern problems.

The collection, which will be available this September, includes bags–clutches, wristlets, totes and backpacks–that will be sold by Kate Spade New York stores, Kate Spade online, Nordstrom and Everpurse.com.

The bags will cost between $198 and $698. They will have the ability to charge iPhones including all models from iPhone 5 through the iPhone 6 Plus.

2AF CHARGING IPHONE PURSE

This could be the beginning of a new trend. Last year we posted a report that talked about new thermo-element that is made with glass fiber. It's a material that is lightweight and high in electric power production efficiency. Compared to ceramic substrate elements of the same weight, electric power production capacity of the new thermo-element is higher by as many as 14 times.

The idea is to construct pant, suit jacket and other kinds of jacket pockets with this new material to assist users in keeping their devices charged while dormant in their clothing.
