2K has partly unveiled its roster characters for the upcoming WWE 2K16 and promised fans that the new WWE video game will have the "largest playable roster" in WWE video game history.
2K revealed six characters that include WWE Superstars, Diva and NXT Star. Below is the list of newly-announced roster characters as revealed in WWE.com:
- Seth Rollins
- Daniel Bryan
- Dean Ambrose
- Bad News Barrett
- Paige
- Finn Balor
WWE Diva Paige had been already been confirmed and WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan was rumoured to be in the game. So, their announcement comes as no surprise.
But what has surprised many WWE 2K fans is the inclusion of NXT star Finn Balor. The Irishman's entry into WWE 2K16 probably indicates the intention of 2K and WWE to push NXT brand in the game. It could play a big role in the game, it has been speculated.
The addition of former shield brothers Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose also comes as no surprise. Bad News Barrett was part of WWE 2K15.
Meanwhile, there have been other wrestlers who self-confirmed their participation in the game via social media. They include NXT Women's star Sasha Banks, Rusev, Rosa Mendes and Zack Ryder.
WWE 2K16 will have a huge roster that will include not only current WWE wrestlers but also past wrestlers. It will include WWE Diva and NXT wrestlers too.
2K has promised fans "additional announcements" in the coming weeks. The game is being co-developed by Yuke's and Visual Concepts.
Release Date
WWE 2K16 will be releasing on 27 October, 2015, in North America and on 30 October, 2015, globally. It will be rolling out for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. There is no mention of a PC version of the game.
